Obama likes our Game

Not only has Obama got a nicotine addiction, he is apparently also hooked on petanque. I hope that if PNZ goes ahead with the rumored invitation for him to take part in one of our PNZ national events, PNZ will not make an exception and let him smoke during play. If the no smoking rule is good for us, it should be good for Obama too.

Reflections on the PNZ Representation Process

PNZ logo." The inaugural PNZ Representative process concluded at Herne Bay with the second selection camp in March.

The full process is available on the PNZ website, but essentially comprised individual baseline skills assessments and assessment camps where players were scored in doubles or triples combinations, in their preferred positions.

It is a good time to reflect on the process, to look at what went well, what could be improved and where to from here...."

This is the same article that appeared in the Summer/Autumn edition of our PNZ magazine. Follow the link at the end of this post. -Tom.

Hawkes Bay Calling

Suggestion. As we all know the Hawks Bay is an extremely active Petanque region. We now have a wiki page which will have regular news from the HB. Simon is kicking it off, and other HB players will help provide a variety of news items. If this is successful we will invite other regions to do the same.

First National Clubs Tournament

The 1st National Clubs Tournament held in Rotorua at the weekend. It was an awesome event enjoyed by all, with tons of camaraderie and team spirit, and lots of good natured ribbing between clubs! The weather mostly behaved itself, and the surrounds in Rotorua were stunning!

It was well attended by 14 teams of 6, and played in two divisions based on the triples results from day 1, with doubles played on day 2.

Herne Bay took out the open section followed closely by Bayview. Herne Bay also won the senior division, and division two was won by Cockle Bay who will move up to division one next year, which will possibly be played in Wellington.

Hopefully somebody can provide some photos as I forgot my camera!

PNZ AGM 2008 Minutes?

Now that we’ve had the PNZ 2009 AGM it’s time for PNZ to come clear over the minutes from last year which PNZ claims are incorrect. When will they now publish the correct version?
