Problems with the forthcoming Petanque Championships

Worlds07."At a meeting at Pattaya City Hall, discussions took place to discuss problems relating to the 43rd Petanque World Championships 2007 which are due to take place at the Pattaya Indoor Stadium in Jomtien between 18th and 23rd September. Khun Niran, the Mayor of Pattaya chaired the meeting and was told that the park which needs to be constructed in the grounds of the Indoor Stadium to accommodate the games of Petanque has not yet been constructed with only three weeks to go until the Championships begin. The Mayor, who is far from happy that the Petanque Park has not been constructed, told officials from the Technical Services Department to begin construction right away...."

Their website has not been touched since the end of July. The names of the team members are not up. It just looks like the site has been abandoned. No marketing people at work here. Lets hope it will all come together in time.

Maybe we should send the PNZ Executive over to sort it out.
Their decisiveness and managment skills could be a great asset to the Thai organisers. Yeah right!

Here comes Mr "Sure To Rise" Barnard again!!

The terms "Sure To Rise" and "Mr Edmonds" are both used within the PNZ executive. I received the quoted text bellow in an email some time ago.

"....I have nicknamed you 'Mr Edmonds", because, just like the famous Edmonds baking powder, you are sure to rise to any stimuli coming from the PNZ's Executive!!...."

At least Graeme always signs off with his name.

It is the "Sure To Rise" people that shape this world. The people that throw rocks at others from behind the safety and anonymity of the proverbial wall are an irrelevance.

Thanks for the compliment. I was brought up with the Edmonds Cook book which has always proven to be honest, reliable and completley trustworthy.
Maybe "anonymous" (and I know who you are) should try it some time.
I hope I will "sure to rise" at the next elections for the PNZ executive and then we will see who's cooking!!
Graeme Burnard (not Barnard)

You boys really need to get out more often! You would then know that the PNZ Executive is appointed and not elected.

And herein lies the problem. (see discussion documents on our Wiki)

PS. Is that you Joanne?

Cheers, Tom.

Being appointed rather than elected doesn't mean you cannot be replaced. There are plenty of "elected" people on the PNZ executive, council, committee, gulag, Stazi, call it what you like. I am happy to come to the proposed unauthorised meeting in September to discuss my nomination.
Graeme (my scones are delicious) Burnard.
