Prize Money for National Championships

"A proposal from the Auckland Petanque Association that prize money should be offered for National Championships was discussed and rejected as inappropriate for these events." (taken from this page).

"Inappropriate for these events" What does this mean? PNZ should be clear and state why this would be inappropriate.

Part of any tournament entry fee goes to prize money, so why can't the winners of, say, the National Triples receive a little money? Let us know what you think. I am especially interested in receiving comments from those who believe it is inappropriate for National Tournaments and the reasons why.

You are also encouraged to take part in our NZPC poll.

prize money should be available at these tournamets.
A very simple way to do this.
30% of entry fees to prize money.
50% To administration.
20 % to players fund for travel and coaching.

triples = 30 teams pay $90 =$2700
$1350 to admin
$800 to prise pool
$650 to players fund.

Give it a crack.

I think it's highly appropriate to offer prize money, considering how much money it costs to travel to and from tournaments, accommodation etc, there needs to be a little bit of an incentive other than points and rankings for players to attend these events...

Hi there Simon

I totally agree !!! With 3 National tournament is it 3 times a year for the last 10 to 12 years. I am pretty sure they can afford couple hundred bucks for the Three National tournament a year. I like on Myles Figure...i like Myles Figure very much ??
