PNZ Club Championships

I see, only just posted on the PNZ website, where this years organiser, of the PNZ Club Championships, to be held in Rotorua, next month. Now requires, that "all" members of a team, must belong to the same club. Begs the Question: regardless of where one lives, is "multi memberships" of clubs allowable? If Not, and in recognising the fact, that the vast majority of club members are purely social players. That along with the huge drop off in numbers of competitive players -that have resulted in, the normally well patronised competitions being cancelled. And the $60 per player entry fee! It will be interesting to see how many "purest" teams take part?
Sincerely Dave Bosley.

I now see where the posting, what was listed on the NZPA website, about next months, Club Champioships, has completely vanished! Anybody out there know what's the story?

Hi Georgio
Sorry, it was posted as being a $180 per team. If 6 players are in a team that would = $30 per player! Please accept my apologies for my first mistake ever!

It would be really good if PNZ had a Noticeboard on their website where they could pop things up quickly. Not a formal sort of thing that needs a meeting to decide what they want to say but just for this sort of thing. 'Sorry all, had to take the notice down, got to tweak something, will get it back up asap'. What could be more simple.

Of course, when questions are asked on this blog or the other one, PNZ are never going to reply directly as they won't write on them as not 'official'.

Dave, the other way of course is to email the secretary and ask what is going on and wait for that reply but then only you will know the answer!

Tom, done it again, sorry, forgot my name, it's Liz for the comment.

Hi Liz
You said it -too simple! Can't fathom as to why it's so hard for PNZ to tell everyone why it's been pulled off their-OUR website! More importantly -as times goin on a bit-the need for prior booking accommodation etc It would be kinda nice to know if,in fact, it's still on?

If anyone has any ideas that they would like PNZ to have a look at during their meeting this coming weekend, please send them to the appropriate person or to the secretary.
I am going to send the idea of a noticeboard to Diane Findlay as she is the person responsible for membership services and communication. Of course it is somewhat dependent on having a website editor who is committed to delivering prompt information. It is an additional committment.

I also want to know if PNZ are seeking to fill the TDR vacancy left when Murray Porter resigned. At the moment it seems as if Dirk and/or Clem are in that position but not sure if it has been formally assigned yet.

I am sure prompt email replies are received as a result of private emails to individual PNZ board members. The problem seems to be when a club directs a question to PNZ the body.

Anyway, I see PNZ has put the item about PNZ Club Championships back on the PNZ website.

I am pleased it is still on, really looking forward to it and the Friday tournament is a great idea. Whoever wrote the notice on the PNZ website looks like they have put some effort and thought into it, nice touch with the accommodation link.

Question – does anyone know the format for the National Club Champs ? The entry form states its division play based on last years ranking , but right underneath the entry form it has the National Championships Rules and Conditions which has the format as pool play, as per the other National Championship tournaments ?

Can anyone clarify which format is being played ?
